The opportunity to bring life into this world is incredible. To be part of that moment where I'm delivering a baby, a fresh soul onto this planet, is still an honor and a privilege to me.
Dr. Lanalee Araba Sam, MD, is a Florida-based OB-GYN, and founder of Concierge Pregnancy . A Toronto native, she’s also an avid triathlete and a voracious reader. But most importantly, she’s a proud mom to her son, Shane.
Dr. Sam was inspired to begin Concierge Pregnancy after working as a physician in a general obstetrics practice with only 6 minutes allotted to each patient appointment. Concierge care was her answer to fostering a healthy and productive doctor-patient relationship that offers unlimited time to explore questions and concerns during every visit. Dr. Sam strongly believes that taking the time to establish a trusting relationship is vital to the success of any pregnancy.
Dr. Sam is known for her upbeat and energetic attitude, for being a caring touchstone and an elite-level care provider. Her passion for obstetric care is obvious the very first time you meet her. She’s unabashed to tell the world that she genuinely loves what she does. She’ll also tell you how becoming a mom herself makes her an even better doctor.
In her third year of medical school, Dr. Sam delivered her first baby and fell in love with the obstetrics specialty. Seven years later she had her son, Shane, and fell in love on a whole new level. Because she’s a mom, she understand the experience—the joys and the anxieties—of being pregnant for nine months. She also ardently believes that deciding who you trust with your body, with your baby, with your pregnancy for nine months, is the most important decision a mom-to-be can make.
Dr. Sam’s birthing philosophy is simple: Pregnancy is not an illness to be treated. It is perfectly natural, and should be celebrated as such. She believes that pregnancy and delivery should be a beautiful, wonderful event without unnecessary invasiveness or complications. Dr. Sam takes a holistic approach to obstetrics care, but also offers outstanding medical expertise. While most pregnancies are normal, modern medicine allows Dr. Sam to confirm it along the way. At the same time, Dr. Sam has distinguished herself as a top specialist in advanced, minimally invasive surgeries for even the most difficult of cases. No matter what, her overarching goal is always happy mom, healthy delivery.
Dr. Sam plays almost as hard as she works. She has participated in nearly 30 triathlons. She swims, bikes and runs in the mornings to keep herself in balance. Aiming even higher, she recently climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro as part of an organization called The Freedom Climb, which spreads awareness about human trafficking.
Dr. Sam is also involved with several charities. She’s on the board of directors for the Broward YMCA, as well as the board of directors for Women in Distress, a local domestic violence organization in Broward County. Dr. Sam regularly volunteers her time with community organizations that have included the Jim and Jan Moran’s Boys & Girls Club, the Make-a-Wish Foundation, the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement, Women In Distress Starfish Circle, in addition to creating her own Elite Women’s Foundation in 2009. She is passionate about each of these endeavors and devoting time to bringing awareness to these charities and initiatives provides her with a great deal of satisfaction.

"I’m thankful to have found you as my doctor. I can’t imagine that there is a more dedicated and compassionate OB around. I appreciated your patience with my long labor and your efforts to get James Duncan here vaginally. I’m also grateful for the comfort you extended to me when I was in incredible pain. I wish you and your family well."
I just wanted to tell you that my first visit to your office was so very positive – your beautifully decorated office, artwork and inspirational messages, cosmetics and supplies in the bathrooms, etc.), the non-institutional musical background, the pleasant and well-trained staff, the technology you employ in keeping records, and most of all, your kind, receptive, humorous, and knowledgeable approach – all well appreciated!
You are someone who is appreciated. This is a wish just for you, a wish that appreciates you for all you are, a wish that thanks you for everything you have done. A thanks for being you this brings a heartfelt thank you, but it really cannot begin to say how much your kindness meant. You have been helpful from the beginning of our pregnancy to the delivery of our daughter.
